Localisation

Understand how Easol localises the checkout experience.

Easol automatically localises the checkout experience based on the customer's browser language preferences.

Currently, checkout is available in the following languages:

  • English (UK)
  • English (US)
  • Czech
  • French
  • German
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish

Customers are shown the most appropriate supported language based on their browser settings.

Theme localisation

Theme content is not currently localisable.

This includes:

  • Block names.
  • Block setting names.
  • Other theme-defined labels and configuration.

Theme metadata is authored in a single language, which is currently English.

Creator-editable content

Wherever possible, customer-facing text should be editable by creators rather than hard-coded into the theme.

For example:

  • Button labels.
  • Section headings.
  • Promotional copy.
  • Empty-state messaging.
  • Calls to action.

This allows creators to customise the wording for their audience and, where appropriate, provide their own translations.

Some older Easol themes contain hard-coded English copy for historical reasons. We recommend avoiding this pattern in new themes.

Developer considerations

When building themes:

  • Prefer creator-editable content over hard-coded strings.
  • Assume checkout content will be translated automatically by Easol.
  • Write theme metadata (such as block names and settings) in English.
  • Avoid embedding customer-facing English copy unless it cannot reasonably be made editable.
